What is CCH?

After three years (possibly more!) of hiatus, we are proud to announce that we are hosting the first schoolwide coding competition at Monta Vista High School! The Cross Club Hackathon is organized by four tech clubs on campus: the Computer Science club, the Data Science club, the Artificial Intelligence club, and the App and Web Dev Club. We aim to provide an opportunity to MVHS students to show off their talents in programming and create projects that have a real impact on the world around us!

When will CCH 2024 take place?

CCH 2023 starts on Monday, Feb 19th, 2024 and ends on Friday, March 1st, 2024. Winners will be announced March 3rd!

Let’s talk logistics!

CCH can be a solo or team-based competition. Participants will compete in teams of 1-4, and if you don’t have a team and want one, we will connect you with other participants who are also looking for teammates.

CCH also had two divisions: Challenger and Hardcore. The Challenger division is for members who are taking or have taken Java or have a similar level of experience in coding. The Hardcore division is for members who are taking or have taken AP CS A or have a similar level of experience in coding. This way, everyone gets to compete against people at their level, and Challengers also get an opportunity to win prizes. When you create a team, please ensure that all of your members are Challengers or all of your members are Hardcore participants; do not mix and match. Officers reserve the right to modify teams to ensure fairness across both divisions.

Over the two weeks of the tournament, you and your team are tasked with creating a project that will blow us away! In order to be a valid submission, your project must satisfy the following three criteria:

What’s the theme for CCH 2023?

Our theme for this event is all about helping Monta Vista. The goal of this hackathon is to empower participants to create innovative solutions that help MV Students or Teachers in their daily lives. Anything will work, as long as it helps the Monta Vista community in some way.

We welcome participants from all backgrounds and skill levels to come together to tackle these important challenges. Whether you're a developer, designer, entrepreneur, or just someone who cares about your peers, this hackathon is for you! Let's work together to create a happier world.

What’s the judging criteria?

Projects will be judged by creativity, applicability, and potential for impact.

Although we will not be judging your code, we will request that you submit your code so our judges can run the application and ensure that your project is not a mock.

You will also be asked to create a short video to present your project. There is no minimum or maximum time limit for this video, but make a reasonable judgment.

Are there prizes?

Of course, there will be prizes! (Yay!) However, what exactly are the prizes? $30, $20, and $10 gift cards for the top three finishers!

How do I participate?

Registration forms are here! If you already have your team, or are choosing to go solo, fill out this form. Only one team member needs to fill it out.

How do I submit?

Submission will be done through Devpost.
